Marlborough & Nelson 2022

While we are in Blenheim the emphasis is on gardens of which we are spoilt for choice and the ‘Odd’ visit to a winery.

Day 1 /  21st February / Blenheim 

Arrival in Blenheim. Meet at 14th Lane later in the afternoon for a pre-dinner drink.

Day 2 / 22nd February /  Blenheim

First of our Blenheim gardens – Welton House,  owned by Wendy Palmer. She had worked with her landscape designer brother Ross to produce this stunning property.

Lunch – Waiarau Vineyard and a chance to have my yearly fix of their gorgeous cheese shuffle.

An Afternoon with a wine guide so we can explore,  and nurture our wine passions with the best of Marlborough.

Day 3 / 23rd February /  Blenheim

A day south to the Seddon area. It will be a busy  visiting 2 iconic gardens :

Karen Ferraby’s  famous Marlborough garden – Barewood  and Rosa Davisons extensive native garden – Parapuma 

We will lunch  picnic style in the garden of Vavasour Vineyard .

Day 4 /24th February /  Blenheim

 Morning visiting Peter Jacksons World War 1&2 Aviation Museum . This is amazingly good and easy to immerse yourself for hours.

Making use of the Blenheim French bakery we will sample French style Sauvignon Blanc  over a casual a sandwich and Fresh Tart lunch – Doesn’t get much better!!!

Day 5 /  25th February / Blenheim

For our last day we are going to enjoy Queen Charlotte Sound with Gordy on the Lady Karen. I hope the weather is as good as last year where we relaxed visiting many bays and anchoring up for a delicious lunch of  Chacuterie, cheeses,  baguettes and Vavasour wines.

Day 6 / Nelson  

Drive across the hills to the Tasman Bay and the beautiful Coast line of Nelson.

 Walk to dinner in the city later in the afternoon and enjoy a casual dinner.

Day 7 / 26th February / Nelson

Start our Nelson adventure by meeting my friends and have exclusive visits during the day to;

  • A chance to meet New Zealand’s famous ceramic artists Christine Boswijk – she can’t wait to show you her creative garden that she is totally passionate about.

  • Lee- Ann Davis lives close by. She is an ingenious inspiring lady producing stunning bespoke broaches that you will be wowed by.

Lunch will be casual and relaxing at Mapua wharf and maybe Fish and Chips and a beer at the local brewery ???

Dinner in Nelson

Accommodation- Sails 

Day 8/  28th February / Nelson 

Visit  the Nelson Surrounds / Market Gardens / Hop industry. 

Long lunch at Forsters in the Moutere hills. 

Late afternoon garden visit.

Day 9 / 1st March / Nelson

Breakfast – Boatshed 

We are heading to Awaroa Lodge at the end of the Abel Tasman National Park.

 This is a gorgeous location and you will have time to walk and explore plus enjoy an evening in a stunning unique place.

Day 10/ 2nd March / Nelson 

Water Taxi  out from Awaroa to Nelson.

Day 11 / 3rd March 

Departure Day 

My private special tours are based on unique accommodation and the best of regional kitchens and wines.

The tour is all inclusive:
